What Is Moringa Clear Liquid Extract?
Moringa Clear Liquid Extract (Moringa oleifera) is a water-soluble botanical active delivering the dense phytonutrient profile of Moringa oleifera leaves — including Quercetin, Kaempferol, Chlorogenic Acid, and Isothiocyanates — in a crystal-clear, ready-to-use liquid format for direct incorporation into the water phase of serums, toners, moisturizers, and scalp treatments. INCI: Moringa Oleifera Leaf Extract.
For those new to botanical actives, Moringa (Moringa oleifera) has earned the name “Miracle Tree” for its extraordinary nutritional and phytochemical density — it contains more antioxidants, vitamins, amino acids, and bioactive compounds per gram than nearly any other plant source. In cosmetic formulation, this translates to a richly multi-functional active: antioxidant protection, anti-inflammatory soothing, skin clarification, barrier nourishment, and scalp health support — all from a single water-phase ingredient. The clear liquid format means all of this activity is available in transparent formulations without colour impact — ideal for clear serums, toners, and scalp treatments.
At the expert level, Moringa’s key cosmetic mechanisms are driven by its flavonoid and phenolic acid content. Quercetin is a flavonol with potent ROS scavenging activity (superoxide, hydroxyl radical, singlet oxygen) and NF-κB inhibitory action — reducing COX-2, IL-1β, and TNF-α — making it a multi-target antioxidant-anti-inflammatory compound. Kaempferol is a complementary flavonoid that additionally exhibits anti-apoptotic activity in keratinocytes (protecting skin cells from oxidative stress-induced cell death) and has been studied for promoting hair follicle cell proliferation via ERK/Akt signalling pathways. Chlorogenic acid is a hydroxycinnamic acid derivative with tyrosinase-inhibitory and photoprotective properties — contributing to Moringa’s skin-clarifying and UV-defence activity. Isothiocyanates (particularly glucomoringin-derived compounds) provide broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and additional antioxidant support. The combination of zinc, vitamins A, C, and E precursors, and amino acids in the full leaf extract also provides direct nourishment to hair follicles and the scalp, supporting a healthy follicle environment and sebum regulation.
Key Benefits
-
Multi-Flavonoid Antioxidant Protection — Quercetin and kaempferol provide potent, complementary ROS scavenging (superoxide, hydroxyl radical, singlet oxygen) for comprehensive oxidative stress defence
-
Potent Anti-Inflammatory — Quercetin-mediated NF-κB inhibition downregulates COX-2, IL-1β, and TNF-α; calms redness, irritation, and reactive skin conditions
-
Skin Clarifying & Brightening — Chlorogenic acid exhibits tyrosinase-inhibitory and photoprotective activity; contributes to a clearer, more even complexion
-
Keratinocyte Protection — Kaempferol’s anti-apoptotic activity in skin cells supports protection against oxidative stress-induced skin cell damage
-
Scalp & Hair Follicle Support — Kaempferol promotes follicle cell proliferation via ERK/Akt signalling; amino acids, zinc, and vitamin precursors nourish the scalp and support healthy follicle function
-
Crystal Clear Format — No colour impact on finished formulation; ideal for transparent serums, scalp treatments, and clear toners
Applications
- Antioxidant defence and pollution-shield serums
- Soothing and anti-inflammatory sensitive skin formulations
- Clarifying and tone-evening treatments
- Scalp serums and hair follicle health treatments
- Multi-botanical antioxidant stacking formulations
- Post-environment repair and urban skin protection products

💡 Which Moringa format is right for you? We offer two Moringa oleifera formats:
• This Clear Liquid Extract — Crystal-clear; ideal for transparent formulations (serums, toners, scalp treatments) where colour is critical
• Moringa Brown Liquid Extract — More concentrated botanical profile with the full-spectrum richness of the unprocessed extract; suited to opaque creams, hair masks, and formulations where colour is not a constraint
How to Formulate With Moringa Clear Liquid Extract
Beginner tip: Add directly to your water phase or at cool-down (≤40°C) — no pre-processing needed. Start at 3–5% in an antioxidant serum or soothing toner. For scalp applications, use at 5–10% in a targeted scalp serum alongside Niacinamide for sebum regulation and Ectoine for stress-shield protection. Moringa is one of the most versatile botanical extracts in the catalog — it works in nearly any antioxidant, soothing, or scalp formulation context.
Expert notes:
-
Phase: Water phase or cool-down (≤40°C); flavonoids and phenolic acids are best preserved below 40°C
-
Usage Rate: 1–10%; 2–5% for most leave-on serums and moisturizers; 5–10% for intensive scalp treatments or antioxidant-focused formulations
-
pH: Confirm via CoA/TDS — work within pH 4.5–7.0 for botanical extract compatibility
-
Antioxidant stacking: Quercetin + EGCG (Green Tea) is a complementary flavonoid stack — different structural classes of polyphenols scavenging different ROS species for broader antioxidant coverage; add Resveratrol for a three-class polyphenol antioxidant system
-
Scalp stack: Moringa + Rosemary Clear Extract (rosemarinic acid + carnosic acid) is a potent scalp antioxidant + follicle-stimulating combination; kaempferol’s ERK/Akt follicle signalling complements rosemary’s DHT and 5α-reductase inhibition for a comprehensive hair health treatment
-
Anti-inflammatory layering: Pair with Gotu Kola Clear Extract (centelloids + TGF-β1 pathway) and Beta Glucan (immunomodulation) for multi-mechanism skin calming
-
Preservation: Always include a broad-spectrum preservative — we recommend Geogard ECT at 0.5–1.0%

Suggested Formula
A premium multi-botanical antioxidant and scalp health serum combining Moringa’s quercetin/kaempferol flavonoid antioxidants with Green Tea EGCG, Rosemary, Ectoine, and Beta Glucan for comprehensive oxidative stress defence, follicle nourishment, and scalp anti-inflammatory protection in a crystal-clear formula.
Method: Hydrate HA LMW and dissolve Niacinamide, Ectoine, and Beta Glucan in warm distilled water (≤40°C) — Phase A. Cool batch to ≤40°C. At cool-down, add all botanical liquid extracts, D-Panthenol, and Geogard ECT (Phase B). Stir gently until homogeneous. Adjust pH to 4.5–6.0. Fill into airless pump or dropper bottle.
Target pH: 4.5–6.0
Recommended use: Apply to cleansed scalp and/or skin. For scalp use, apply directly to the scalp with a dropper applicator; do not rinse. For facial use, apply to cleansed skin morning or evening as an antioxidant treatment layer.
