Hi, I’m Atinuke — Founder of PURE ACTIVES

I’m a formulator based in Canada, and I got into cosmetic formulation because I was passionate about skincare science — about understanding what ingredients actually do, how they work at a cellular level, and how to build formulas that deliver real results.

But the more I learned, the more frustrated I became.

The actives I wanted to work with — the clinically validated, high-performance ingredients that professional brands use — were rarely available in Canada. When I did find them, they were expensive. Shipping from the US or Europe added cost and uncertainty. Minimum order quantities were designed for large manufacturers, not independent formulators or small brands just getting started.

I kept asking myself: Why should Canadian formulators have to pay more and wait longer just to access the same ingredients that everyone else is using?

I couldn’t find a good answer. So I decided to do something about it — and PURE ACTIVES was born.
