Pure Actives' Hydroxyethyl Urea Powder is a high-purity (≥98%), synthetic humectant derived from urea, engineered for superior moisture-binding performance in cosmetic formulations. Unlike conventional urea, Hydroxyethyl Urea is non-irritating at typical use concentrations and delivers potent hygroscopic activity — drawing and retaining moisture from the environment into the skin. It functions as a multi-modal hydrating active: it boosts the skin's natural moisturizing factors (NMF), enhances the water-holding capacity of the stratum corneum, and improves skin texture and softness without the sensitivity concerns associated with high-concentration urea. Its excellent water solubility and broad formulation compatibility make it an ideal humectant for a wide range of aqueous-based cosmetic applications.
This ingredient is intended for cosmetic use only. Not for internal consumption. Always conduct a patch test before use in finished formulations.
Add to the water phase of your formulation at 1.0–5.0%. Dissolve in water before combining with other ingredients. Compatible with most cosmetic actives and suitable for use alongside hyaluronic acid, glycerin, niacinamide, and AHAs. Suitable for hydrating serums, moisturizers, toners, essences, body lotions, and barrier-repair formulations.
