Pure Actives' Astaxanthin Oil 10% is a highly concentrated carotenoid active, delivering 10% Astaxanthin in MCT Oil (Medium Chain Triglycerides) for easy incorporation into oil-phase formulations. Astaxanthin is widely recognized as one of the most potent naturally occurring antioxidants, with singlet oxygen quenching activity estimated to be up to 6,000x stronger than Vitamin C and 550x stronger than Vitamin E. Its unique molecular structure allows it to span the full lipid bilayer of cell membranes, providing superior antioxidant protection both inside and outside the cell. At cosmetic use levels, it delivers powerful photoprotection, anti-aging, and skin-brightening benefits.
This ingredient is intended for cosmetic use only. Not for internal consumption. Astaxanthin will impart a red/orange colour to finished formulations — account for this in your formulation design. Always conduct a patch test before use.
Add to the oil phase of your formulation at 0.01–0.1%. Note: Astaxanthin will impart a deep red/orange colour to finished products — plan your formulation colour accordingly. Suitable for antioxidant serums, sunscreen boosters, anti-aging facial oils, photoprotective moisturizers, and eye creams.
