I use this preservative im a number of formulas. The quality is very good. Haven’t had any spoilage. I would like to see the expiry date on the bottle or at least on the website though.

SymWhite® 377 — The New Gold Standard for Hyperpigmentation
Dark spots, uneven skin tone, post-acne marks, melasma — these are some of the most searched skin concerns in DIY skincare. SymWhite® 377 (Phenethyl Resorcinol) is the clinically validated brightening active that professional formulators reach for when they need results without irritation. If you're building a brightening serum, spot treatment, or intimate care formula, this is the ingredient to anchor it.
Who Is This For?
- DIY formulators targeting hyperpigmentation, dark spots, or uneven skin tone
- Skincare brands looking for a hydroquinone-free, clinically backed brightening active
- Formulators working on sensitive skin, intimate brightening, or post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH) products
- Anyone who wants a tyrosinase inhibitor with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits built in
What Is SymWhite® 377?
SymWhite 377 is a skin brightening active with the INCI name Phenethyl Resorcinol. It works by inhibiting tyrosinase — the enzyme responsible for triggering melanin production in the skin. Less melanin activity means fewer dark spots, more even tone, and a visibly brighter complexion over time.
What makes SymWhite 377 stand out is that it doesn’t stop at tyrosinase. It also inhibits DHICA oxidase, a second enzyme in the melanin pathway — giving it a broader, more effective mechanism than most brightening ingredients on the market.
On top of that, it carries antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that help protect skin from the environmental triggers that cause pigmentation in the first place.
What the Clinical Studies Say
This isn’t marketing language — it’s science.
- A study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology tested SymWhite 377 on 30 healthy female volunteers. After 12 weeks, it significantly reduced hyperpigmentation and improved skin lightness and evenness.
- A study in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology tested a SymWhite 377 serum on 28 subjects with facial hyperpigmentation. Results: effective reduction in dark spots with no irritation or adverse effects.
- A safety assessment in the International Journal of Toxicology confirmed SymWhite 377 is non-genotoxic, non-mutagenic, non-carcinogenic, and not a skin sensitizer — making it one of the safest brightening actives available.

- Add Niacinamide and Tranexamic Acid to the water phase while mixing at room temperature
- Alpha Arbutin is water-soluble and heat-stable up to 70°C — safe to add in Phase A
- Add D-Panthenol and Allantoin in cool-down to preserve activity
- Always check final pH before preserving — SymWhite 377 is stable at pH 4–7
- Conduct a 3-month stability test (40°C/75% RH) and patch test before commercializing
